Job Summary
The Cloud Ops Revenue Analyst is a key member of the global revenue accounting team and will play a critical role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, compliance with ASC 606 requirements, SOX controls, ARR analysis and efficient Order to Cash processes. The Revenue Accountant is also responsible for performing research and analysis on issues that arise as part of the monthly close process, as well as documenting contract reviews and preparing technical analysis of complex revenue transactions.
Job Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of ASC 606 to analyze complex revenue contracts and transactions, ensuring compliance with the standard's guidelines and requirements.
- Oversee Spot’s Order to Cash process, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to internal controls.
- Perform monthly revenue accounting close responsibilities, including preparation of revenue schedules, account reconciliations, roll forwards, journal entries, and other deliverables within the close package.
- Research and provide technical accounting guidance related to new products.
- Conduct regular reviews and assessments of revenue contracts, identifying potential issues and recommending solutions to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
- Perform revenue forecasting and variance analysis, providing insights and recommendations to management based on your analysis.
- Assist with external audits and act as a point of contact for revenue-related inquiries from auditors.
- Drive process improvements in various cloud-related activities outside core Revenue Accounting (e.g. annual revenue run rate (ARR), private offers, control implementations, etc.)
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, with a strong emphasis on ASC 606.
- Proven experience in revenue recognition for complex contracts and transactions, preferably in a technology or software industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex contractual terms and apply accounting guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience with Oracle and RevPro systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is strongly preferred.
