THE POSITION
Under the direction and supervision of the Head of Safeguarding and Child Protection, the Senior Safeguarding Manager provides strategic support in the development and implementation of the FIFA Guardians programme.
These are your key tasks:
- Supporting the Head of the department in the development and implementation of FIFA’s safeguarding strategy and FIFA’s Safeguarding Policy.
- Supporting the Head of the department in employing effective and efficient operational strategies to embed safeguarding best practice within and across FIFA’s global programmes and activities, working collaboratively across the organization with other FIFA divisions and departments.
- Leading and providing quality assurance and oversight in the development and implementation of the FIFA Guardians training and education programme. Work will include managing the FIFA Guardians Safeguarding in Football Diploma with the Open University and preparations for the planned webinars and residential workshops for Nominated FIFA Learners in 2025 and beyond.
- Updating key FIFA Guardians policy guidance and educational materials, including but not limited to the FIFA Guardians Safeguarding Toolkit for Member Associations (MAs).
- Ensuring that FIFA provides relevant advice, guidance, quality assurance and training as appropriate internally, to its Member Associations (MAs) and key stakeholders in relation to safeguarding and player care, including reviewing and advising MAs on their policies and procedures.
- Providing technical support, advice, and guidance to the Confederations in the implementation of safeguarding when relevant.
- Overseeing the ongoing implementation of the monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) component of the FIFA Guardians programme to develop case studies of best practice from around the world.
- Monitoring progress of the FIFA Guardians programme, develop and review the scope and delivery of the programme to best address and continuously meet the needs of the organisation and its 211 member associations.

The specific competencies we require for this position are:
- A strong professional background in social work, safeguarding/child protection, law, integrity, or human rights within the statutory, intergovernmental, or not-for-profit sectors.
- Proven significant experience of developing and delivering safeguarding/child protection trainings, especially in international/regional contexts and culturally sensitive environments, to a wide range of audiences including senior level staff.
- Extensive track record in supporting the review of policies, procedures, and relevant documentation and/or in the management of an educational program.
- Previous experience of at least 10 years with a global/regional role including working relationships across regions/sub-regions.
- Experience in the sport/football sector is considered a plus.
- Educated to degree level, or relevant experience to the same level of knowledge and expertise in relevant discipline (Social work, Psychology, Law, Integrity, Human Rights, Safeguarding or Child Protection), preferably with a master’s degree, or postgraduate qualification in a related discipline.
- Fluent in English. Proficiency in any other FIFA language (F /ES /GER) is an asset.
- Proficient in Word / PowerPoint / Excel.
- Willingness to travel as needed (less than 20%).
- Ability to work professionally, and confidentially, in an area where sensitive issues and cases may arise and may be discussed.
