AXA XL Reinsurance is among the world's leading reinsurers, offering a comprehensive product range across Property, Casualty and Specialty reinsurance. In Specialty Reinsurance we are looking for a person to join a small and very successful tema in the area of Credit and Surety Reinsurance.


Over the years the team has successfully created a significant and profitable book of business for the Reinsurance arm of AXA XL. A team of 8 people is responsible for maintaining and further grow this book and we need an additional workforce to further grow this profitable book. The main task is to support the underwriting of this profitable portfolio of business and to aid the growth of the overall portfolio according to proper underwriting guidelines. The role holder will gain the necessary technical knowledge and perform challenging and meaningful tasks. The role holder will also pick up valuable business, technical and sales skills over time and thus prepare for a future career in reinsurance. We can offer an excellent environment in a small team, we can offer an involvement in many different transactions we analyse on a worldwide base. The team is centralized in Zurich and writes a worldwide book of business which gives exposure to different cultures, different countries and different languages.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Support the underwriters in the analysis of new reinsurance treaty offers and renewals of existing treaties; pre-analyse special acceptances and facultative reinsurance offers
  • Analyze and prepare client data and information packages which includes exposure data analysis, prepare pricings with corresponding data entries in our pricing tool and treaty administration in close cooperation with an outsourced team
  • Structure and sort all necessary information and make the respective data entry for peer reviews and committee referrals
  • Is responsible for the handling of all post-renewal tasks, above all the exposure reporting and exposure matching
  • Ensuring that all information is entered accurately on the respective underwriting, pricing and data storage
  • Prompt processing of slips and wordings
  • Assist underwriters in the reinsurance premium flow control in cooperation with an outsourced accounting team
  • Ad hoc research and project work to provide the Underwriters with information to make informed underwriting decisions
  • Supporting the underwriter by attendance and participation in internal and external client / broker meetings, prepare client meetings
  • Building and maintaining relations with brokers and clients at analyst level to best serve the interests of the AXA XL organization
  • Ensuring that, as a AXA employee, you are representing the AXA XL organization and values in a professional and appropriate manner including adherence to all external and internal regulatory and statutory policies and procedures


SHARE your talent

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Finance or equivalent (Master may be of advantage)
  • Experience in a Financial Services environment of advantage, but is not a must (university graduates are welcome)
  • First experience in specialty (re)insurance underwriting is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbally and in writing) in English and if possible in German. Fluency in another language (French, Spanish, Portuguese, others) is considered a plus.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous eye for identifying inconsistencies or inaccuracies in data entry or data outputs
  • Able to organize self-including effective scheduling, prioritization and time management skills, completing tasks to tight deadlines. Demonstrates a ‘can do’ attitude, dedication and sense of urgency
  • Comfortable taking ownership for own work, identifying the need for action (using initiative) whilst working effectively within a team.
  • Displays a resilient and adaptable style, track record of remaining calm in demanding circumstances, adjusting comfortably to changing conditions / priorities
  • Excellent level of numeracy, with demonstrable evidence of manipulating data clearly and accurately with the ability to extract & clearly articulate key points
  • Interest in financial business acumen and economics, reads the news and is up to date of what happens in the world.
