As IP Paralegal Trademarks at dsm-firmench, you will play a key role in assisting IP counsel in expanding, maintaining and protecting our trademark portfolio. Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative IPR Management: Update IP management systems, file trademark applications (in-house/agent), prepare cost estimates, maintain IPRs (renewals, DOU, AOU, EOU, fees), monitor deadlines, and provide overviews.
  • Trademark Searches: Conduct trademark availability searches and prepare reports for IP counsel.
  • Actions at IPO: Handle office actions, oppositions, cancellations, and infringement matters with IP counsel support.
  • Adapting to IP Law Changes: Absorb, understand, and apply changes in IP laws and procedures, integrating updates into the IP management system.
  • Global Communication: Liaise effectively with local agents, IP offices worldwide, third parties, and team members while ensuring adherence to national procedures.
  • TLA & Contract Management: Manage and draft Trademark License Agreements (TLAs) and support IP counsel in improving efficiency related to portfolio management, overviews, and contracts.
  • Operational Efficiency: Enhance processes to streamline administrative and strategic IP functions for IP counsel.

You bring:

  • Educational Background: Completed secondary general education (CFC, bachelor in paralegal studies/legal officer, or university bachelor's in law).
  • Trademark Expertise: Successfully completed external trademark (paralegal) training.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English and French (German is a plus).
  • Professional Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Key Skills: Strong communication abilities, adept at simplifying complex data into concise reports, and proficient in technology, IP management systems, and external IPO systems.
  • Mindset & Attitude: Growth-oriented, flexible, agile, and solution-focused.
