The Position

Roche Molecular Diagnostics develops and produces innovative tests based on the Nobel Prize-winning discovery of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The tests developed by this business area for virology, HPV, microbiology, blood screening and point of care products are used around the world by researchers, doctors, patients, hospitals, laboratories and blood banks.

We are seeking an inspiring leader to head assay development projects in an agile environment. You will have the outstanding opportunity to drive assay innovation and to deliver high-quality assays on schedule.

THE OPPORTUNITY

  • You represent Assay Development in cross-functional project teams, guiding strategic decisions and engaging with cross-functional partners to drive project team goals forward through cooperative planning of budgets, timelines, and resourcing.

  • You foster a united and confident Assay Development Chapter by cooperatively plan, review and drive projects with other Assay Product Owners, assuring compliance and integrity of development efforts, influencing strategic decisions, and enabling continuous efficiency gains through encouraging innovative thinking.

  • You assist Line managers in developing talents within the organization and ensure continuous skill building.

  • You are developing new IVD PCR assays for the cobas 5800/6800/8800 instruments.

  • Specifically, you will lead diagnostic PCR assay development activities to support assay registrations in China.


WHO YOU ARE

  • University degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. Several years of experience in the development of molecular diagnostic systems and familiarity with the regulatory requirements relating to the IVD industry coupled with a proven track record of delivery.

  • Substantial experience in developing PCR assays

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Mandarin and English.

  • Proven collaboration/influence management, decision-making, and leadership skills, and a demonstrated drive for results.

  • Knowledge and experience with complex data tools and ability to implement digital strategies to use data to improve product

  • Highly developed competencies in thinking strategically, analytically and innovatively. Able to quickly and creatively analyze situations and provide solutions to complex challenges.
