The Roche Diagnostics Solutions (RDS) business area, with 9,000 employees, is responsible for all diagnostics solutions and has end-to-end accountability for the development and delivery of these solutions.

RDS includes four customer areas (Core Lab, Molecular Lab, Pathology Lab, Near Patient Care) and functions such as R&D, Clinical Development & Medical Affairs, Portfolio & Project Management, Marketing & Customer Insights, Global Access & Policy and Global Customer Support. In Near Patient Care, the focus is on equipping healthcare systems with accurate diagnostics along the patient journey – from the home, pharmacy and physician’s office to the emergency department and hospital. Near Patient Care aims to go beyond testing alone, driving Roche’s ambition to deliver innovative, digitally integrated and personalised disease management solutions closest to patients.

The position

As the Snr Communications Business Partner, Near Patient Care you will be responsible for driving impactful global communications strategies to help deliver on business objectives. You will lead the Near Patient Care portfolio and disease area narratives in partnership with the Head of Near Patient Care (NPC) and NPC leadership team. As an expert in both external and internal communications you will act as coach and advisor for internal stakeholders across the Near Patient Care Customer Area.

As part of the RDS Communications leadership team, you will translate the RDS and Group and Diagnostics Communications vision and strategy into relevant function-related projects and initiatives supported by careful planning and concrete measurement, by planning and delivering integrated communications strategies, narratives, campaigns and crisis/issues preparedness that inspire, equip, engage and align stakeholders (Near Patient Care, affiliate and cross RDS).To deliver on this, you rely on effective teamwork and collaboration with the broader RDS, Diagnostics and Group Communications community.

To the Near Patient Care leadership team you are a trusted strategic partner and an integral member of the business. You embrace an agile mindset and are energised by change. You are a trusted counsellor and sparring partner and advise on relevant communication approaches. You want to be a key player in transforming Diagnostics and develop new leadership skills in a fast-paced, rapidly changing industry/environment.

Who you are

Additionally you bring the following competencies and qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience, required.

  • 10+ years of experience in communications, with a focus on external and internal communications preferably gained in the pharmaceutical or diagnostics industry.

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) required, fluency in German an advantage.

  • International or global work experience, with high cultural awareness and an understanding of cross-cultural communications.

  • Thorough grasp of the healthcare/diagnostics industry to create robust and innovative strategies.

  • Ability to manage indirectly and ensure outcomes through indirect leadership.

  • Outstanding consulting skills: active listening skills, ability to extract and quickly process complex information, summarise key needs or interests of internal customers, and provide targeted and appropriate coaching, insights and recommendations.

  • Track record of presenting to and coaching senior company executives/audiences and contributing to influencing their decision-making.

  • Self-motivation: able to thrive in a non-hierarchical, self-organising environment, where teams form around projects and initiatives.
