Research Assistant (m/w/d), EG 13 TV-H, fixed term-position, full-time (currently 40 hours per week)

This is a position for three years with the possibility of extending the contract (position for academic qualification corresponding to § 2 WissZeitVG) with the opportunity for a PhD project. Start of work is as soon as possible.

The Department of Measurement and Control is conducting research and teaching in the areas of nonlinear system identification & control, computational intelligence & machine learning, signal & image processing and remote sensing, as well as sensor data fusion. The applications focus is on mechatronics, manufacturing, process, energy and environmental systems as well as service robotics.

Your Tasks:

  • Carry out research in ensemble-based methods and fuse methods from machine learning, statistics and system identification to obtain for data-based methods for modelling nonlinear dynamical systems and quantify the prediction uncertainty
  • Test and demonstrate the developed methods in several case studies using benchmark data sets and the test stands of the department.
  • Present and publish your results in national and international conferences and journals
  • Participation in and support of teaching and labs of the department is possible

Requirements are:

  • Completed course of academic studies (Master degree) within the field of mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, applied mathematics or a similar degree with at least good overall grade. The required degree must be available by the recruitment date at the latest.
  • Experience and interest in control-oriented modelling
  • Programming experience in Matlab or comparable
  • Willingness to work independently and to publish in national and international conferences and journals
  • At least very good command of English (B2/C1), proficiency in German (B1/B2)
  • Interest in obtaining a PhD

Advantageous is:

  • Experience in the fields of system identification, control engineering, statistics, machine learning
