Overview: Summary
This is a great position within a promising therapeutic area that includes innovative medicine in Inflammation and Autoimmunity (IAI) and more in particular in Dermatology.
This is the accountable leadership position in Medical Affairs Region Europe for IAI. This person will lead the Medical Affairs IAI team in Regional Headquarters (HQ) & have dotted line responsibility for the country medical affairs leads. As head of IAI Medical Affairs Region Europe, this person will lead the strategy & all medical affairs activities. This person will lead and drive Region EU IAI medical strategy for the portfolio of products and development molecules within the Global Program Teams (GPT) as well as lead strategic approval of investigator-initiated research (IIR) programs, creation and accountability of European medical plans and medical review of Medical Affairs and promotional materials.
Responsibilities

  • Leads European cross functional strategy at GPT with full accountability for all IAI assets.
  • As head of IAI Medical Affairs Region Europe, leads & drives EU medical strategy and communications and ensures/facilitates coordination among the European affiliates for the planning and execution of the strategy & European medical plan.
  • Drives strong belief internally & externally for the portfolio of products and molecules in clinical development.
  • Leads the Medical affairs function in IAI EU and on an as needed basis part of any of the EU assets brand teams.
  • Be accountable for being Medical Responsible person at EU level for named patient programs and Regional Medical Affairs sponsored trials.
  • Be accountable for Medical affairs budget related to EU HQ driven Medical Affairs events or programs.
  • Actively leads the collaboration between Global & EU Regional Medical Affairs/Clinical Development/Development Operations and the European countries.
  • Be accountable European advisory boards, Preceptor-ships, speaker’s tours.
  • Be accountable for Approving Country Advisory Boards, Grants & Donations, Investigator Initiated Research (IIRs) related to the IAI area.
  • Be accountable for European level medical and promotional materials review for scientific/medical accuracy.
  • Works with the European affiliate Medical Directors & their teams (including Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) to plan and implement strategic interactions with European Key External Experts (KEE)s & scientific societies.
  • Be accountable for the development of the scientific programs for all European symposium in collaboration with the European Medical Affairs Directors & Communication Manager.
  • Ensures compliance with rules and regulations applicable to medical affairs activities in Europe.
  • Leads by example to contribute positively to a strong culture of business integrity and ethics.
  • Acts within compliance and legal requirements as well as within company guidelines.


Requirements

  • MD/PhD with 10+ years in academic, clinical, industry setting required.
  • Dermatology/Immunology experience required.
  • Familiarity with GCP/ICH/FDA requirements as well as clinical trial design, biostatistics, medical writing, product safety, healthcare compliance and regulatory affairs.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Strong public speaking skills.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to influence and work effectively across functions and operate in a matrix environment.
  • Office-based in Morges, Switzerland
  • Ability to travel 30-35% of working time.
