Your role and responsibilities

The Lead Counsel will act as the subject matter expert on Digital, Software, AI and Contract Lifecycle Management (“Digital”) legal matters and will provide legal support to the ABB RA Business Area across all Divisions/Markets, focusing on the Digital legal needs of the business. Acting as a strategic business partner and enabler, and in strong collaboration with Division Lead Counsel and Regional General Counsels. A strong focus for this role will be on the AI business/commercial developments as RA is the ABB Group Lead for the AI topic. Therefore, this role shall be a strong supporter but also strategic legal lead for the AI topic and related turn-key projects. The Lead Counsel shall: • Help develop and support the strategy of the RA Business Area and Divisions on Digital initiatives and programs (including CLM for RA) • Be the legal program lead for RA for the CLM process & tool implementation and effectiveness of the AI functionality of the tool • Provide day-to-day legal advice and support on all Digital matters, including supporting sales, global supply chain, manufacturing, R&D, IS and field operations • Provide legal advice on strategic alliances, commercial and marketing initiatives and programs, product development, and certification and all commercialization opportunities • In collaboration with the Corporate Center of Expertise for Digital and with other BA legal teams, lead the development of contract standards, templates, and guidelines and ensure their deployment, implementation, and operationalization within RA • Develop training curriculum and provide training and guidance to the RA business within the area of expertise • Drive improvement and development of contractual model clauses on Digital Risks and obligations • Review, draft, and assist in negotiations of customer contracts and deals in the focus areas • Keep abreast of legal developments, in particular commercial, regulatory, and integrity risks that arise in respect of Digital laws and regulations, with responsibility to ensure legal team and business stakeholders are informed and updated on legal developments • Focal point of contact for legal and integrity support for all RA Cyber Security and Data breach incidences The Lead Counsel will report to the Global General Counsel Business Area. This position may involve some travel.

Qualifications for the role

• 10+ years of proven practical experience in an international environment as in-house lawyer or in a reputable law firm with a focus on software, digital legal tools, legal technology process development
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills on a global level and ability to work in a complex international environment
• Interest and curiosity in technical topics, including the rapid development of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, CLM and software contracts, and in acquiring a deep understanding in Digital Business Models
• Strong collaboration, project and stakeholder management, and leadership skills
• Demonstrated project management and leadership on CLM and new Act implementation in a global company
• Experience in a decentralized company preferred
• Prior experience in a global position with an excellent grasp of global digital laws
• Proven experience as a change agent in a fast-paced and challenging environment
• Fluency in English with strong communication, presentation, and networking skills
