In this role you will report directly to Head of Regional Banks in Germany and you will be based in the Frankfurt office. You will contribute to the development and implementation of the firm’s sales programme into the German marketplace, with coverage of Savings Banks and Cooperative Banks in Germany. You will cover Retail departments, Private Banking, IDB/ADB, Asset Management units as well as Treasury/Depot A.

Role Responsibilities:

Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate sales strategies and objectives across the target client segments in order to deliver prime rate service out of Frankfurt to domestic clients in Germany. The individual will have the following responsibilities:

  • Improve and increase the distribution of the company's investment management products to Sparkassen and Cooperative Banks through an active, competitive sales approach and a systematic and persistent approach of the target client segments.
  • Meet the individually agreed competitive gross and net sales targets for the client segment.
  • Cover Savings Banks and Cooperative Banks in Germany, with a proven track record of managing this specific client group in Germany, and a strong network within the German landscape.
  • Establish and develop appropriate and lasting relationships with key clients in the interest of building profitable customer relations and attaining ambitious sales objectives.
  • Act as a critical link in account management and client coordination matters working with the European investment management product teams based in London.
  • Work closely and cooperate in a partnership spirit with the asset management and marketing specialists in London, drawing upon extensive research and investment management policies to access and serve the client base.
  • Participate in marketing activities of the firm to ensure that they focus on addressing the requirements of the target markets.
  • Attend site visits and deliver presentations for large groups of advisors in person, as well as via webinar and online coverage.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements are met, including contact reports.
  • Work within regulatory and statutory requirements at all times and ensure that Columbia Threadneedle Investments meets at all times its fiduciary responsibilities.

Key Capabilities:

  • Proven track record in achieving yearly sales targets for the client segment
  • Prior sales experience in private banking or wealth management
  • A finance background. Preferably with saving banks (Sparkassen), cooperative banks ( Raiffeisenbank, Volksbank, Spardabank) or private banks.
  • Track record in selling bespoke solutions to private banks, Savings Banks and Cooperative Banks.
  • Experienced, self-motivated, highly energetic sales professional with a sharp intellect and a strong, disciplined business acumen.
  • Deep capital markets knowledge and experience dealing with a broad range of investment strategies
  • Extensive experience in understanding the German Private Banking and Asset Management market as well as the characteristics of regional banks, in addition to regulatory limitations / requirements on investment strategies
  • Proven ability to market and sell in the broadest sense, i.e. client segmentation, identification of the appropriate products per client type and preparation and implementation of sales tactics
  • Ability to serve and respond to different client requirements, depending on the business unit (Retail, Private Banking, Asset Management, Treasury)
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Bachelor degree or diploma in Banking

  • Must comply with all regulatory requirements including training and continuous professional development
  • Comply with the Risk Management Framework
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication and presentation skills to clearly articulate sophisticated concepts, ideas, and processes at a very senior level
  • Flexible, dynamic, well-organised and willing to travel

Working Relationships:

  • Reporting to Head of Regional Banks in Germany and working closely with German Distribution Team as well as broader European Distribution Team.
  • Coverage ranges from Retail departments, Private Banking, IDB/ADB, Asset Management units as well as Treasury/Depot A.
