We are looking for an EY teacher for our Transition class (4-5 year-olds). Candidates should have experience of collaboratively planning engaging units of learning that harness children's interests. They should have experience of teaching phonics and early literacy and mathematics. Experience with the IB PYP is preferable but not necessary. Commitment to children's wellbeing, high standards of learning outcomes and working with families to nurture children's development are essential. Fluency in Italian is an advantage.
OUR SCHOOL
Our school was founded in September 2014 as part of the ISE network of schools, spanning Italy and Switzerland. The school has had year on year growth, and now has 270 students across the age range of 3-18. In January 2021 the International School of Ticino became the only IB continuum school in the area and had our first DP class graduate in July 2023 with a high value added. Our cohort last summer achieved a high average score of 34, with university admission process for Cambridge held, and entrance confirmed to Universities such as Bocconi, Lausanne and other leading institutions. EARLY YEARS As an integral part of the IB Primary Years Programme, our Early Years curriculum takes a trans-disciplinary inquiry approach to learning and is inspired by the philosophy and practice of the world renowned Italian Reggio Approach.

The Early Years curriculum is founded on the belief that all children are naturally curious and disposed to learning. They are creative, imaginative, energetic and resourceful. The focus of the curriculum aims to capitalise on these natural dispositions by providing meaningful, authentic activities in which children can become absorbed, committed and successful. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ideal candidate will be excited by the opportunity to help continue to grow an IB school and will be experienced in teaching a range of ages and abilities across the entire primary and/or secondary school age range. The offer is for a permanent contract but we will consider a fixed term contract if requested. Our location offers the opportunity live on Lake Lugano in Switzerland or, as some teachers do, commute from the Lake Como area north of Milan. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- be in possession of a university degree in a related subject and an appropriate teaching qualification;
- have had recent, demonstrable experience teaching secondary within the 11-18 age range;
- be an enthusiastic and passionate teacher with a love of teaching and the ability to convey this successfully to students;
- be an EU passport holder or already be in possession of a valid visa that enables her or him to work in Switzerland.
- be resilient, reflective and possessed of a good sense of humour
Previous experience with IB programmes is a distinct advantage. Further training will be offered, together with relocation assistance.
